Why Mike loves helping others …

Mike has a passion for working with and helping people achieve their goals. It's well known that your early years play a huge role in shaping who you are and even the career you choose. Growing up, Mike attended a very traditional all-boys' school, where playing sports like rugby was a 'requirement' to be accepted by one's peers. Due to feet problems he was unable to play rugby (tennis just didn't cut it) and he was regarded as what today we'd call a 'nerd', with all the bullying that resulted. Mike hated his school life, and developed the 'skill' of hiding his feelings from his tormentors. (Of course, they were just kids then, who grew up into decent, well-functioning adults.)

Mike developed a real compassion for people who faced struggles, whether it was with acceptance, or in learning something new. From his mid-teens he knew he wanted to be a school teacher, and after qualifying he taught math, science and computer science at another equally traditional all-boys' school. This was a very rewarding time and he won various teaching achievement awards, but (as happened at the time with so many teachers) he was enticed into the business sector, and since then has either managed teams of writers or worked as a consultant, helping clients acquire the technology they need to do the job, and training them in the use of the particular system. Mike really enjoys helping people succeed, and is known for going the extra mile for them.

Mike founded FundaMedia (its name is derived from the Xhosa word for learning)in 1994 and continues to help clients around the world achieve success. With his wide experience (and ability to solve problems that other consultants called impossible to do) Mike is a sought-after consultant in the industry.
